Just as we're busy pondering the HomeView and preparing for the iPhone Duo launch, word arrives of another Apple event on the horizon! Plus, Apple and Meta bond over local AI.

We break down Apple's big home announcements, including the new HomeView, a collection of smart home products, a new HomePod Mini, and the new (and surprisingly expensive) Apple TV 4K.

Together in Memphis, Myke and Jason discuss John Ternus prodding Apple to move faster, Apple's regret about giving apps Full Disk Access, and the impending release of Apple's long-rumored home hub product.

Apple's slow move toward a fitness band makes us wonder if the company has lost its ability to execute quickly. Also, it's time for a MacBook Neo check-in, and Myke questions Jason's Apple Watch use.

The new products are here! Jason reviews the M6 Mac mini, and then Jason and Myke both talk about their hands-on experiences with the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple Watch series 12. This is apparently just the beginning of a busy season!

The 27 OS releases have dropped. Jason has a review of macOS Golden Gate and Myke acts as the ambassador for Siri AI. And we've also got more reactions to just what makes the iPhone Duo so interesting.

We break down Apple's September 9 event, including the foldable iPhone Duo, the non-foldable iPhone 18 Pro, the surprising new Apple Watches that double as AI wearables, and the event debut of John Ternus as Apple's CEO. And who won the draft?!

It's time for another Apple event draft! But before we predict what Apple will introduce next week, we need to send off the Tim Cook Era and discuss a somewhat surprising announcement of new chips and new Macs!

The EU gives up and settles with Apple, John Ternus's new home strategy starts to come into focus, and people at Apple just love the folding iPhone.

It's a Summer of Fun takeover! Jason asks Myke about the state of his current workflows, and we both highlight our current Macs and current favorite Mac utilities.

While OpenAI readies a familar-sounding smart speaker, Jason and Myke break down the public betas for macOS, iOS, and watchOS, including Siri AI and new Photos features.

Inside Apple's OpenAI lawsuit: How do trade secrets conflict with expert knowlege, was there a concerted effort to steal secret documents to kickstart OpenAI hardware, and how does Apple's own vulnerability inform the whole situation?

Apple seeks RAM in all the wrong places, Jason has two tangents about FileMaker, and we deal with a large load of somewhat puzzling rumors and legal cases.

Apple raised prices! Is this a shocking move, or were Apple products just sneakily affordable before? (And can it be both?) We also parse Mark Gurman's reports on Apple skipping over may M6 chips to go directly to M7.

The Apple II makes its public debut at a landmark event in the history of personal computers, and Steve Jobs truly comes into his own.

In the spirit of the Summer of Fun (and Apple history Kickstarters), John Siracusa joins us to discuss when Apple was forced to replace the Classic Mac OS. Also, John Ternus gives some love to Apple's designers and Tim Cook says prices are going up!

Under the watchful eye of Steve Jobs, the Apple II takes form at last. It's an integrated color computer created by Steve Wozniak, powered by a groundbreaking power supply designed by Rod Holt, and wrapped in a plastic shell designed by Jerry Manock.

Back from WWDC, Jason and Myke have had more time to think about Apple's announcements--and to try many of them in beta releases. Siri AI impresses, we have Snow Leopard vibes, and much more.

In a preview of our new Designed in California podcast, we travel to the summer of 1976, as Apple travels to Atlantic City for a computer trade show, the Apple II begins to form, and the fellowship between the two Steves shows signs of breaking.

Live from Apple Park just hours after the WWDC keynote, Jason and Myke offer their in-person reactions to Apple's announcements, including Apple Intelligence, Siri AI, platform improvements and refinements, and features for kids.

In a preview of our new Designed in California podcast, we take you back to 1976 and recount Steve Jobs's numerous attempts to sell Apple or, at the very least, get someone to make an investment in the fledgling company.

It's time for our 11th annual competition regarding what will happen at Apple's WWDC keynote! What will be announced? For the third straight year, what will Apple's AI story be? We predict it all! Also, Myke and Jason are starting a new podcast!

WWDC is two weeks away, so it's time for us to consider what we'll be looking for from Apple in terms of features promised and promises delivered.

Stephen Hackett joins Jason to talk old Macs, binned chips, and Apple AI. Then Jason discusses the darkest part of Steve Jobs's career with the author of "Steve Jobs In Exile", Geoffrey Cain.

We revisit the Ultra and Neo names, consider the future of Apple's processor manufacturing strategy, and try to imagine why possible use case there could be for AirPods with built-in cameras.

We read between the lines of Apple's latest record financial results to see how they will impact future products and aquisitions in the Ternus Era. Plus: An Ultra name conundrum, Johny Srouji's burnout, and F1's stateside debut.

Given a week to process the news of Apple's CEO transition, we ponder where Apple will go under John Ternus, the role of Johny Srouji, and why a book about Tim Cook would not be a cookbook.

Breaking news! Apple announces that Tim Cook's tenure as CEO is ending, and John Ternus and Johny Srouji get promotions. And when that's done, we finish our Apple at 50 coverage with a vibe-based draft.

Is it possible that Apple could run out of MacBook Neos? What's Apple's smart glasses strategy, really? We tackle both questions, discuss Jason's new UWB smart lock, consider the shape and name of the folding iPhone, and more!

The Mac Pro is dead, iOS 18 security updates are now available for all, and Siri's upcoming revamp comes into focus. After all that's done, both hosts share their Apple origin stories.

Jason and Myke tell the story of Apple's origin. It emerged from the unique environment of the Santa Clara valley suburbs of the '70s thanks to the particular genius of its two co-founders and some surprising help they got along the way.

Myke talks to Jason about his "Jeopardy!" experience, and Jason interviews David Pogue about his book, "Apple: The First 50 Years."

Myke has MacBook Neo FOMO and we have reviews of both Studio Display models. Also: Apple starts celebrating 50; App Store fees are lowered in China; Somehow, AirPods Max returned; Apple's AI crisistunity; and Jason in Jeopardy!?

Episode 600 prompts us to revisit predictions from episode 500 and make some new ones for episode 700. We also cover new AirTags and Apple's plans to fix Apple Intelligence.

This week we're following up on what the Apple-Google AI hookup means and reacting to Apple's announcement of an oddly shaped creative apps bundle.

Google and Apple join forces to corner the market on smartphone AI models, John Ternus gets a profile in the New York Times, live NBA basketball comes to the Vision Pro, and Apple inconsistently refuses to stop bad App Store behavior.

Happy New Year! In this episode, we share some of the things we hope we'll see from Apple in 2026. Also, Jason attacks an emoji.

It's time for the 12th Annual Upgradies! Myke and Jason discuss their favorites of 2025, take the input of many Upgradians, and hand out awards in numerous categories! Only the finest will walk away with the most coveted of titles: Upgradies Winner.

After whipping through a bunch of segments in order to play as many jingles as possible, Myke and Jason celebrate the festive season by aesthetically judging the new icons of macOS Tahoe. Happy holidays to all who celebrate!

We discuss what laptops Apple is expected to release in 2026, Apple's AI parsing of podcasts, that time Jason didn't really almost work for Apple, and weird snacks.

The week everybody left Apple.
